SCA Germany Workshop- Brewers Cup Edition
Have you ever wondered what the judges are doing in the coffee competition? What exactly are the score sheets about? Why sometimes a great barista or an amazing coffee won’t win the Brewer’s Cup Championship?
SCA Germany is hosting THE WORKSHOP to breakdown the invisible wall between competitors and judges. We really want to tell you what the competition is about, why it’s there, and what the judges look for.
Simply put, if you are a competitor, a coach, a judge (inspired to become one), or a competition enthusiast, this is the first time in the history we are opening the door to all. Everything is on the table. You will align sensory skills with the REP, learn how to read/write the score sheets at the world stage level, so you can compete with more confidence or join the jury to judge in the future.
No More Brewing In The Dark!
THE REP: Cerianne Bury
Cerianne has been working with coffee since 2005. Over the years she has held positions from Barista to Coffee Trainer and Coffee Product Developer. After her Master in
Political Science and Gender Studies she started working for Trabocca, a green coffee trader, specialized in Ethiopian coffee and certified coffees. As Global Quality Assurance Manager she manages the Quality team and runs the Food Safety Management System. She is responsible for the sensory and physical evaluation of coffees and certification management. Ensuring customer needs are met both on regulation and sensory requirements. She manages the company’s certifications, sustainability reporting, and the social and quality related projects. She’s been a certified sensory judge since 2017 and became a rep in 2025. She has been on the „Competitions Strategic Committee“ within the World Coffee Championships responsible for overseeing the rules and regulations for all World Coffee Championships events.
WCC Representatives (Reps) are active WCC Certified Judges who have undergone additional training to qualify them as official WCC Reps.
Reps support and assist Competition Bodies in their championships by leading the national judges training using official WCC materials, ensuring the event is run according to the rules and regulations, and offering support for arbitration. They ensure alignment with WCC standards, protocols, and practices, supporting the Head Judges by acting as a resource for information and mentoring, and overseeing the event as a whole. All licensed Competition Bodies are required to have a WCC Rep present during their event in order for it to be sanctioned.
